Our unique work process ensures that native speakers of both the source
and target language are intimately involved with all translation projects, working
simultaneously to guarantee a better translation than any single individual. This
also provides built-in quality assurance, thus allowing us to save our clients money.
Of course, translation requires more than bilingualism.
In addition, a good translator must be:
A good writer. Laura has won awards for her writing, and David
teaches writing seminars to university students.
A good researcher. We both have earned multiple advanced
degrees, which has trained us to develop outstanding research
abilities.
A good decision-maker. Because languages differ in their
grammar, vocabulary, etc., a translator must regularly make decisions
regarding the balance between literal translation and rewriting and revising. We make all such decisions through a
collaborative process of critical thinking and deliberation.
