Polyglot Language Services

Our company’s principals are a husband-and-wife team who collaborate on translation work.

Laura is a native speaker of Chinese and is fluent in English; David is a native speaker of

English and speaks some Chinese. Laura graduated at the top of her class at Taiwan University,

and has earned master’s degrees in both the United States and Taiwan; David is a cum laude

graduate of Yale University and has a Ph.D.

* We have 25+ years of combined experience in the language services industry, as well as

experience in academia, publishing, and finance.

* We are both published authors: in addition, Laura is an award-winning writer, and David

teaches writing seminars at The George Washington University in Washington, DC.

OUR CV provides further details about our experience and expertise.

Our unique work process ensures that native speakers of both the source

and target language are intimately involved with all translation projects, working

simultaneously to guarantee a better translation than any single individual. This

also provides built-in quality assurance, thus allowing us to save our clients money.

Of course, translation requires more than bilingualism.

In addition, a good translator must be:

A good writer. Laura has won awards for her writing, and David

teaches writing seminars to university students.

A good researcher. We both have earned multiple advanced

degrees, which has trained us to develop outstanding research

abilities.

A good decision-maker. Because languages differ in their

grammar, vocabulary, etc., a translator must regularly make decisions

regarding the balance between literal translation and rewriting and revising. We make all such decisions through a

collaborative process of critical thinking and deliberation.
